TUNNELS - THE LINING.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Civil Engineering, 1994
This paper describes the construction of the lining for the French section of the Channel Tunnel. As the alignment of the tunnel is not straight in the horizontal plane or in the vertical plane, the lining had to be designed to follow the curves. The paper explains how it was possible to use only twelve positions to align the segments.

Asymmetrical injections near tunnel linings

International Journal of Physical Modelling in Geotechnics, 2002
Uneven loading resulting from asymmetrical grout injections near a tunnel poses a risk of damaging tunnel linings. Counter-rotation of lining segments at joints concentrates the increase of lining stress and strain at the joints. The damage of lining joints will be more significant if the joints are not constructed properly.

Tunnel Stabilization and Lining

1996
This chapter covers the behavior of tunnels during excavation, and how this behavior may be modified by installation of a variety of reinforcing or supporting systems. Stabilization designates systems installed before, during, or immediately after excavation to provide initial support and to permit safe, rapid, and economical excavation.
