Genetic structure of the paternal lineage of the Roma People
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 2011AbstractAccording to written sources, Roma (Romanies, Gypsies) arrived in the Balkans around 1,000 years ago from India and have subsequently spread through several parts of Europe. Genetic data, particularly from the Y chromosome, have supported this model, and can potentially refine it.

Genetic Lineage Tracing of Beta Cell Neogenesis
2012Genetic lineage tracing is an invaluable tool to demonstrate and measure neogenesis of beta cells from putative precursor cells. Cre-Lox recombination technology can be used for indelible labeling of a cohort of cells and following the fate of these cells and their progeny in animal models.

Genetic Lineage Tracing of Non-cardiomyocytes in Mice
2020Genetic lineage tracing is accomplished using bi-transgenic mice, where one allele is altered to express Cre recombinase, and another allele encodes a Cre-dependent genetic reporter protein. Once Cre is activated (constitutive or in response to tamoxifen), the marker gene-expressing cells become indelibly labeled by the reporter protein.

Genetic Mosaicism in Adult Mice of Quadriparental Lineage
Science, 1965Genetic mosaic mice can be produced by aggregating, during cleavage stages, the blastomeres of two embryos of different genotype into a single cluster, and by transferring the developing aggregates to the uterus of a surrogate mother. Substantial numbers of such composite embryos survive past birth.

Identification of genetically aberrant cell lineages in Wilms' tumors
Genes, Chromosomes and Cancer, 1994AbstractMost Wilms' tumors contain several predominant cell types, of which a primitive blastemal population is often the most prominent. Other typical components include undifferentiated mesenchymal and epithelial cells, but it has not been demonstrated that these components are neoplastic.

Genetic Lineage Tracing of Biliary Epithelial Cells
2018Lineage tracing of liver cells is a powerful tool to understand liver embryonic development, healthy liver cell homeostasis, tissue repair, and regeneration. Lineage tracing of biliary epithelial cells (BECs) in the adult liver has been used to assess the contribution of the biliary epithelium to liver injury, regeneration, and disease.

Genetic lineage tracing of resident stem cells by DeaLT [PDF]
Unraveling the fates of resident stem cells during tissue regeneration is an important objective in clinical and basic research. Genetic lineage tracing based on Cre-loxP recombination provides an effective strategy for inferring cell fate and cell conversion in vivo.

Learning and Lineage Selection in Genetic Algorithms
Proceedings. IEEE SoutheastCon, 2005., 2005Lineage selection is a process by which traits that are not directly assessed by the fitness function can evolve. Reported here is an investigation of the effects of individual learning on the evolution of one such trait, self-adaptive mutation rates. It is found that the efficacy of the learning mechanism employed (its potential to increase individual

Genetic mosaics and cell lineage analysis in plants
Trends in Genetics, 1989The use of genetic mosaics for cell lineage analysis has revealed several important features of plant development. All multicellular organs in higher plants are polyclonal in origin. Although primordial cell lineages have fairly regular fates, the fate of any given cell within these lineages cannot be accurately predicted.

Genetic Lineage Tracing of Nonmyocyte Population by Dual Recombinases
Circulation, 2018Background: Whether the adult mammalian heart harbors cardiac stem cells for regeneration of cardiomyocytes is an important yet contentious topic in the field of cardiovascular regeneration. The putative myocyte stem cell populations recognized without specific cell markers, such as the cardiosphere-derived cells,
