A Novel Method for Optimal Control of Piecewise Affine Systems Using Semi-Definite Programming [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Electronics, Control and Optimization, 2020
: In this paper, a novel optimal control design method by discontinuous quadratic Lyapunov function and continuous quadratic Lyapunov function for 2-dimensional piecewise affine systems via semi-definite programming and LMI constraints is proposed. In ...

Temperature‐Induced Nonvolatile Switching through Thermal Hysteresis in a Gd3Fe5O12/Ho3Fe5O12 Exchange‐Coupled Rare‐Earth Iron Garnet Bilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Reducing power consumption in spintronic memory remains a major challenge due to the need for high current densities. A bilayer of gadolinium and holmium iron garnets enables purely temperature‐induced, nonvolatile magnetic switching with bistable states within a ±25 K range. This approach achieves up to 66‐fold lower energy use than current spin–orbit

Understanding the Effects of Conductive Polymer Electrode Coating on Recorded Neural Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Conductive polymer coatings are widely explored to improve the quality of signals recorded with chronically implanted neural electrodes, offering enhanced biocompatibility along with reduced electrode impedance. Combining computational modelling and data from PEDOT:PTS coated and PtIr electrodes in rats, we show that improvements in signal quality with

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.

Optimal problem of cost function for the linear neutral systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
We study the optimal control problem of a system governed by linear neutral type in Hilbert space X. We investigate optimal condition for quadratic cost function and as applications, we give some examples.

Optimal Continuous/Impulsive LQ Control With Quadratic Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, the optimal continuous/impulsive linear quadratic (LQ) control problem with quadratic constraints is thoroughly solved for the first time. The main contributions of this paper can be stated as in the following. First, the maximum principle

A Quasi-Dynamic Optimal Control Strategy for Non-Linear Multivariable Processes Based upon Non-Quadratic Objective Functions [PDF]

open access: yesModeling, Identification and Control, 1984
The problem of systematic derivation of a quasi-dynamic optimal control strategy for a non-linear dynamic process based upon a non-quadratic objective function is investigated. The wellknown LQG-control algorithm does not lead to an optimal solution when

Counterintuitive Fluorescence Blue Shift in Symmetry Breaking Dicationic Bis(indolium) with Two‐Photon Absorption Properties for NIR Living Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Highly water‐soluble dicationic bis(indolium) dyes have been prepared, showing excellent two‐photon absorption and light emission. Their fluorescence behavior discloses an unusual increasing blue shift with increasing solvent polarity, which, in parallel, is beneficial for enhanced detection in biological media.

Discrete time McKean-Vlasov control problem: a dynamic programming approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the stochastic optimal control problem of nonlinear mean-field systems in discrete time. We reformulate the problem into a deterministic control problem with marginal distribution as controlled state variable, and prove that dynamic ...
