Adaptive Linear Classifier by Linear Programming

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Systems Science and Cybernetics, 1970
A linear classifier based on linear programming which is adaptive to a change in the set of input vectors is discussed. Different from other linear classifiers, this one maintains the maximum reliability of its operation, provided that the set of pattern vectors is linearly separable.

Colored extrinsic fluctuations and stochastic gene expression

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology, 2008
Stochasticity is both exploited and controlled by cells. Although the intrinsic stochasticity inherent in biochemistry is relatively well understood, cellular variation, or ‘noise’, is predominantly generated by interactions of the system of interest ...

The central role of forests in the 2021 European floods

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
Plants play a key role in the hydrological cycle, yet their contribution to extreme rainfall remains uncertain. Here we show that more than half of the vast amounts of water accumulated in the recent Germany and Belgium floods were supplied by vegetation

Human Stress and StO2: Database, Features, and Classification of Emotional and Physical Stress

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Emotional and physical stress can cause various health problems. In this paper, we used tissue blood oxygen saturation (StO2), a newly proposed physiological signal, to classify the human stress. We firstly constructed a public StO2 database including 42

Linear unification

open access: yesProceedings of the eighth annual ACM symposium on Theory of computing - STOC '76, 1976
AbstractA unification algorithm is described which tests a set of expressions for unifiability and which requires time and space which are only linear in the size of the input.

Development and Validation of the IAG Dynamic Stall Model in State-Space Representation for Wind Turbine Airfoils

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Considering the dynamic stall effects in engineering calculations is essential for correcting the aerodynamic loads acting on wind turbines, both during power production and stand-still cases, and impacts significantly the turbine aeroelastic stability ...

Highly inclined light sheet allows volumetric super-resolution imaging of efflux pumps distribution in bacterial biofilms

open access: yesScientific Reports
Bacterial biofilms are highly complex communities in which isogenic bacteria display different gene expression patterns and organize in a three-dimensional mesh gaining enhanced resistance to biocides.

Carcinomas and Carcinoid Tumors of the Lungs and Bronchi in Children and Adolescents: The EXPeRT Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...
