A New Linear Actuator for Robotics
The International Journal of Robotics Research, 1993We describe the design and control of a novel contraction ac tuator that operates by generating tensions in a filament. The mechanical working principle is based on the deflection of a filament that provides both a reduction in its length (contrac tion) and amplification of the deflecting force within a specified range of operation.

A multisensory linear actuator system
IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2002Presents a very compact multisensory linear actuator system. The key element of this linear actuator system is the DLR patented planetary roller spindle drive (PRSD(R)). With a volume of 50 /spl times/ 50 /spl times/ 104 mm (length /spl times/ width /spl times/ height), it can output more than 100 kg force and achieve a displacement of 50 mm with a ...

<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes a microcomputer-controlled hydraulic actuator designed with controllability, flexibility and ease-of-use as the fundamental goals. To achieve this, the electronics, valving, sensors and hydraulic cylinder are contained in a single, pre-engineered package.

Improvement of linear actuator with ER gel
RO-MAN 2009 - The 18th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, 2009Nowadays, certain kinds of robots have been developed to be used in proximity to daily human activities. Backdriveability is important for robots to act according to users' movements. We want to develop a linear actuator of high power and backdriveability.
