First-order Marcum Q -function is observed in various problem formulations. However, it is not an easy-to-handle function. For this reason, in this article, we first present a semi-linear approximation of the Marcum Q -function.

Linear Estimation for Approximately Linear Models
An approximate linear model is proposed to allow for deviations from an underlying ideal linear model as follows: If, in standard notation, $Y = A\beta + \varepsilon$ is the ideal model then $Y = A\beta + r + \varepsilon$ where $|r_i| \leqq M_i$ for $M$ a given vector is an approximate linear model.

A Maximum Entropy Approach to Assess Debonding in Honeycomb aluminum Plates
Honeycomb sandwich structures are used in a wide variety of applications. Nevertheless, due to manufacturing defects or impact loads, these structures can be subject to imperfect bonding or debonding between the skin and the honeycomb core.

Biophysics of the cochlea: Linear approximation
Several deficiencies affecting previous ‘‘box’’ models of the cochlea are overcome in this paper. Both mechanical and hydrodynamical aspects are treated at a level adequate to the complexity of realistic cochlear structures. The dynamics of the cochlea as a passive physical system, in the linear approximation, is described by an integral equation.

Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas in Children and Adolescents: Expert Recommendations
ABSTRACT Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas (SPN) is a rare low‐grade malignant exocrine pancreatic tumor, mostly discovered during the second decade of life in females, with a very good prognosis, provided microscopically complete surgical excision is achieved.

Efficient approximation of random fields for numerical applications [PDF]
This article is dedicated to the rapid computation of separable expansions for the approximation of random fields. We consider approaches based on techniques from the approximation of non-local operators on the one hand and based on the pivoted Cholesky ...
