Fast neutrons and gamma rays shielding properties for some nylon composite [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In this study, The removal parameters of macroscopic fast neutron cross-section, linear gamma ray attenuation, mean free path, and half-value layer (half-value thickness) were calculated for a polymer composite containing nylon 6 as a base material and ...

Calculation and Research of γ-ray Air Attenuation Coefficient at Different Altitudes

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes, 2021
In the process of aviation gamma dose rate measurement, due to the large altitude span, the gamma-ray air attenuation coefficient will be affected by altitude, temperature, air pressure and air density, so corresponding corrections are needed.

Attenuation coefficient estimation of the healthy human thyroid in vivo

open access: yes, 2015
Previous studies have demonstrated that attenuation coefficients can be useful towards characterizing thyroid tissues. In this work, ultrasonic attenuation coefficients were estimated from healthy human thyroids in vivo using a clinical scanner.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
