A considerable penetration of rooftop PV generation and increasing demand for heating loads will enlarge the peak-to-valley difference, imposing a great challenge to the reliable operation of distribution systems under cold climates.

On linear complementarity systems
A new method is proposed to solve dynamic linear complementary systems. To this class of systems belong all electrical piecewise linear (PL) dynamic networks. The method uses numerical integration methods to transform the original problem into a static standard linear complementary problem (LCP) that needs to be solved for each time step period.

In recent years, a system with rigid and extremely flexible components (hereinafter called “SREF”) are often employed for satellite systems in order to realize various vast structures in orbit, and flexible components are made of strings, membrane and so

Stability of Mooring System Based on Linear Complementarity System Theory
In order to determine if a given mooring system is globally asymptotically stable, the mooring system is analyzed based on the hybrid system theory. The stability of linear complementarity system is investigated by using the common Lyapunov function approach. A method to find the common Lyapunov function is presented.

Maximally coherent mixed states: Complementarity between maximal coherence and mixedness
Quantum coherence is a key element in topical research on quantum resource theories and a primary facilitator for design and implementation of quantum technologies. However, the resourcefulness of quantum coherence is severely restricted by environmental

Between Mathematical Programming and Systems Theory: Linear Complementarity Systems [PDF]
Complementarity systems arise from the interconnection of an input-output system (of the type well known in mathematical systems theory) with a set of complementarity conditions (of the type well known in mathematical programming). It is shown by means of a list of examples that complementarity systems appear quite naturally in a broad range of ...

Optimality Conditions for Nonlinear Semidefinite Programming via Squared Slack Variables
In this work, we derive second-order optimality conditions for nonlinear semidefinite programming (NSDP) problems, by reformulating it as an ordinary nonlinear programming problem using squared slack variables.

Scalar linear complementarity systems do not exhibit Zeno behavior
This paper studies nature of solutions of scalar linear complementarity systems. The main result asserts that such systems do not exhibit Zeno behavior, that is there can only be finitely many switchings within any finite time interval.

Automated Extraction and Mapping for Desert Wadis from Landsat Imagery in Arid West Asia
Wadis, ephemeral dry rivers in arid desert regions that contain water in the rainy season, are often manifested as braided linear channels and are of vital importance for local hydrological environments and regional hydrological management.

Although the central focus of ecology has long been the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, this relationship has rarely been explored in species-poor communities such as salt marshes, which have the potential to shed new light ...
