Variable structure control for parabolic evolution equations

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper it is considered a class of infinite-dimensional control systems in a variational setting. By using a Faedo-Galerkin method, a sequence of approximating finite dimensional controlled differential equations is defined.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

The Petrov-Galerkin Method and Chebyshev Multiwavelet Basis for Solving Integro-Differential Equations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Industrial Engineering and Production Research, 2007
: There are some methods for solving integro-differential equations. In this work, we solve the general-order Feredholm integro-differential equations. The Petrov-Galerkin method by considering Chebyshev multiwavelet basis is used.

Two-Connection Renormalization and Nonholonomic Gauge Models of Einstein Gravity

open access: yes, 2009
A new framework to perturbative quantum gravity is proposed following the geometry of nonholonomic distributions on (pseudo) Riemannian manifolds. There are considered such distributions and adapted connections, also completely defined by a metric ...

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.

Accelerated Progression of Gait Impairment in Parkinson's Disease and REM Sleep Without Atonia

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective People with Parkinson's disease (PD) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep without atonia (RSWA) often have more severe gait disturbances compared to PD without RSWA. The association between the presence and expression of RSWA and the rate of progression of gait impairment in PD is unknown.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Fractional-power approach for the study of elliptic second-order boundary-value problems with variable-operator coefficients in an unbounded domain

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2020
In this article, we give new results on the study of elliptic complete abstract second order differential equations with variable operator coefficients under Dirichlet boundary conditions, and set in $\mathbb{R}_+$.

Bayesian Estimation Improves Prediction of Outcomes After Epilepsy Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We estimated the statistical power of studies predicting seizure freedom after epilepsy surgery. We extracted data from a Cochrane meta‐analysis. The median power across all studies was 14%. Studies with a median sample size or less (n ≤ 56) and a statistically significant result exaggerated the true effect size by a factor of 5.4, while the ...
