A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

Mixed-mode thermo elastic delamination fracture behavior of composite skin stiffener containing interface delamination

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
This paper presents the thermo-elastic effect on materials having anisotropic behavior and stresses developed due to residual temperature on interlaminar delamination fracture characteristics of composite skin stiffener.

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,

Numerical Modeling For Fracture Mechanics Problems Using The Open-source Fenics Platform

open access: yesLatin-American Journal of Computing
Fracture mechanics is the mechanical approach to fracture processes, which emerged due to limitations in the application of traditional concepts of Mechanics of Materials to predict the behavior of cracked materials.

Definition and application of a cohesive crack model allowing improved prediction of the flexural capacity of high-performance fibre-reinforced concrete pavement materials

open access: yesJournal of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers, 2012
In conventional concrete pavement design methods the design parameters are determined using linear elastic analysis. Concrete is subject to significant size effect and as a result linear elastic design concepts, such as the modulus of rupture determined ...

On a damage-plasticity approach to model concrete failure

open access: yes, 2009
A damage-plasticity constitutive model for the description of fracture in plain concrete is presented. Two approaches, the local model comprising the adjustment of the softening modulus and the nonlocal model based on spatial averaging of history ...

Golden‐Ratio–Guided Aperiodic Architected Metamaterials with Simultaneously Enhanced Strength and Toughness

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...
