Sorption of Pd on illite, MX-80 bentonite and shale in Na–Ca–Cl solutions

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
This paper examines sorption of Pd(II) onto illite, MX-80 bentonite, and Queenston shale in Na–Ca–Cl solutions of varying ionic strength (IS) from 0.01 to 6.0 mol/L (M) and pHc ranging from 3 to 9 under atmospheric conditions.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Bite count rates in free-living individuals: new insights from a portable sensor

open access: yesBMC Nutrition, 2018
Background Conclusions regarding bite count rates and body mass index (BMI) in free-living populations have primarily relied on self-report. The objective of this exploratory study was to compare the relationship between BMI and bite counts measured by a

Residue-based correlation between equilibrium and rate constants is an experimental formulation of the consistency principle for smooth structural changes of proteins

open access: yesBiophysics and Physicobiology, 2023
The consistency principle represents a physicochemical condition requisite for ideal protein folding. It assumes that any pair of amino acid residues in partially folded structures has an attractive short-range interaction only if the two residues are in

Linear Free-Energy Relationship in Mixed Solvents

open access: yes, 1978
Department of Chemistry, University of Kalyani, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal, (India) Manuscript received 22 June 1977; revised 27 February 1978 ; accepted 23 March 1978 The nature of the variations of p with solvent systems has been explored. The change in p-values cannot be explained on the basis of electrostatic theory. The changes in p- and u-values

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Data on sorption of organic compounds by aged polystyrene microplastic particles

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
This article contains data on experimental sorption isotherms of 21 probe sorbates by aged polystyrene microplastics. The polymeric particles were subjected to an UV-induced photo-oxidation procedure using hydrogen peroxide in a custom-made aging chamber.

Sensitivity of Offline and Inline Indicators for Fiber Stretching in Continuous Polyacrylonitrile Stabilization

open access: yesFibers, 2023
In carbon fiber (CF) production, the stabilization process step is the most energy- and time-consuming step in comparison with carbonization and graphitization.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
