A Linear Model to Describe Branching and Allometry in Root Architecture

open access: yesPlants, 2019
Root architecture is a complex structure that comprises multiple traits of the root phenotype. Novel platforms and models have been developed to better understand root architecture.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

A quasi-one-dimensional critical-throat acoustic boundary condition for thermally choked dual-mode ramjet nozzles

open access: yesActa Acustica
Thermally choked nozzles, where choking is induced by heat addition rather than a geometrical throat, are a promising solution for dual-mode ramjet transitions to hypersonic speed. Despite their relevance, thermal throat boundary conditions for quasi-one-

Genetic parameters of calving ease in dairy cattle using threshold and linear models

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2019
Genetic parameters of direct and maternal effects for calving ease (CE) in Portuguese dairy cattle were estimated applying a threshold model (TM) and three linear models (LM) using 320,953 CE records.

Linear sigma model at finite temperature

open access: yes, 2004
The chiral phase transition is investigated within the framework of thermal field theory using the O(N) linear sigma model as an effective theory. We calculate the thermal effective potential by using the Cornwall-Jackiw-Tomboulis formalism of composite ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
