A examination of notch effects in the fatigue of carbon steel by linear notch mechanics.
Fatigue tests of 0.31% carbon steel specimens with a circumferential groove were made in a wide range of configuration parameters. As a result, it has been confirmed that the linear notch mechanics (LNM) can be successfully applied to the examination of notch effects in fatigue.

The Application of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics Analysis to Bluntly Notched Round Bar Specimens.(Dept.M) [PDF]

Examination of linear notch mechanics by means of FEM.

A unifying approach to fatigue design in presence of defects and notches subject to uniaxial loading
In the recent past, Atzori and Lazzarin proposed a diagram able to include the geometrical effects on the fatigue limit of defects, short cracks, long cracks and U-shaped notches of whatever severity.

An Examination of the Notch Effect in Fatigue of Carbon Steels Based on Linear Notch Mechanics
Fatigue tests of 1.31% carbon steel specimens with a circumferential notch were made under a wide range of configuration parameters. As a result, it has been confirmed that linear notch mechanics (LNM) can be successfully applied to the evaluation of notch effects in fatigue.

This paper describes the numerical analysis of planar crack growth in high strength steel API 5L X70 whose crack growth parameter is adopted from experimental compact tension (CT) specimen in previous literature. Apart from the fact that conventional fatigue crack growth specimen has bogus geometry constraints, the Single ...
