In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

An Emphatic Approach to the Problem of Off-policy Temporal-Difference Learning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we introduce the idea of improving the performance of parametric temporal-difference (TD) learning algorithms by selectively emphasizing or de-emphasizing their updates on different time steps.

A New Approach to Linear/Nonlinear Distributed Fusion Estimation Problem

open access: yes, 2018
Disturbance noises are always bounded in a practical system, while fusion estimation is to best utilize multiple sensor data containing noises for the purpose of estimating a quantity--a parameter or process.

Special issue on linear parameter varying systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2014
SUMMARYThis special issue contains six papers on the topic of linear parameter varying systems. The papers consider quite different theoretical problems, although four are related to either fault‐detection and fault‐isolation or fault‐tolerant control.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

A generalization of the Lomnitz logarithmic creep law via Hadamard fractional calculus

open access: yes, 2017
We present a new approach based on linear integro-differential operators with logarithmic kernel related to the Hadamard fractional calculus in order to generalize, by a parameter $\nu \in (0,1]$, the logarithmic creep law known in rheology as Lomnitz ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Non-linear Gradient Algorithm for Parameter Estimation: Extended version

open access: yes, 2015
Gradient algorithms are classical in adaptive control and parameter estimation. For instantaneous quadratic cost functions they lead to a linear time-varying dynamic system that converges exponentially under persistence of excitation conditions.

Kernelized Identification of Linear Parameter-Varying Models with Linear Fractional Representation

open access: yes2019 18th European Control Conference (ECC), 2019
The article presents a method for the identification of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) models in a Linear Fractional Representation (LFR), which corresponds to a Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) model connected to a scheduling variable dependency via a feedback path. A two-stage identification approach is proposed.
