Linear Parameter-Varying System Identification: The Subspace Approach

2012
In the past two decades, a significant amount of research has been carried out on Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) systems. It has been shown that LTI control synthesis techniques like optimal and robust control can be extended to the LPV case. Notwithstanding the advances in LPV control, the identification of such systems is still not completely ...

Cooperative control of linear parameter-varying systems

2012 American Control Conference (ACC), 2012
The state consensus problem among groups of linear parameter-varying (LPV) systems is addressed. The systems are assumed to have an identical LPV structure. We consider both homogeneous groups, where the time-varying parameters are identical, and heterogeneous groups, where the parameters can be different for all agents.

FAULT DIAGNOSIS IN LINEAR PARAMETER VARYING SYSTEMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006
Abstract This paper presents a new approach to solve the FDI (Fault Detection and Isolation) problems in Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) systems. A sufficient condition is established for guaranteeing fault sensitivity performance. The design problem is formulated within the LPV polytopic modeling framework and solved using LMI optimization techniques.

Robust identification of linear parameter varying systems

Proceedings of the 1999 American Control Conference (Cat. No. 99CH36251), 1999
We study the robust identification problem for a special class of linear parameter varying systems, when it is assumed that there is only one varying parameter and all the states of the system under identification can be measured. We consider a worst-case approach, i.e., we look for a set of models in a class of systems defined a priori, which could ...

Stabilizing controller design for linear parameter varying systems using parameter feedback

Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference, 1996
A new design approach is presented for linear parameter varying (LPV) systems which utilizes real-time knowledge of the parameters to asymptotically stabilize the closed loop system for all parameter-variations. By changing the LPV system's coordinates to phase variable canonical form, a parameter feedback controller can be constructed that renders the

Modeling and Identification of Linear Parameter-Varying Systems

2010
This book aims to bridge the gap between Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) modeling and control by investigating fundamental questions of modeling and identification. It explores missing details of LPV system theory that have hindered the formulation of a well established identification framework.

An inverse system for linear parameter-varying max-plus-linear systems

Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2004
The Max-Plus-Linear (MPL) system is a state-space description for a certain class of discrete-event-systems that are-linear in max-plus algebra. This paper considers an extended description of MPL systems with a linear parameter varying structure, which is called LPV-MPL systems, and proposes an inverse system of the LPV-MPL system, which calculates ...

Stabilizability of a linear parameter-varying system

Proceedings of the 1999 American Control Conference (Cat. No. 99CH36251), 1999
The stability of a linear parameter-varying plant for missile guidance with time invariant controllers is studied. It is shown that the stabilizability of the linear parameter-varying plant is guaranteed if its parameter-frozen plants are stabilized with the same controller under a reasonable assumption.

A parameter-dependent performance criterion for linear parameter-varying systems

Proceedings of the 36th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002
Existing control theory for linear parameter-varying systems uses a uniform-in-the-parameters upper bound (a constant scalar) on the induced-L/sub 2/ norm. In this paper, this constant is generalized to a function of the parameters; the performance criterion generalizes to an integral quadratic constraint and implies a norm bound that depends naturally

Subspace identification of multivariable linear parameter-varying systems

Automatica, 2002
A subspace identification method is discussed. It deals with multivariable linear parameter-varying state-space systems with affine parameter dependence. To overcome the problem of exponential increase in the number of rows of the data matrices, a selection procedure for reducing their numbers is proposed.
