Jordan embeddings and linear rank preservers of structural matrix algebras [PDF]
We consider subalgebras $\mathcal{A}$ of the algebra $M_n$ of $n \times n$ complex matrices that contain all diagonal matrices, known in the literature as the structural matrix algebras (SMAs). Let $\mathcal{A} \subseteq M_n$ be an arbitrary SMA.

Contractivity-preserving implicit linear multistep methods [PDF]
We investigate contractivity properties of implicit linear multistep methods in the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations. The emphasis is on nonlinear and linear systems d d t U ( t ) = f ( t , U (

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Some linear preserver problems on block triangular matrix algebras
In this article we classify rank-one nonincreasing maps ψ on n-square block triangular matrix algebras with the assumption that ψ(In) is of rank n. As applications, we obtain complete classifications of adjugate-commuting maps, and compound-commuting ...

Linear preservers of secant varieties and other varieties of tensors [PDF]
We study the problem of characterizing linear preserver subgroups of algebraic varieties, with a particular emphasis on secant varieties and other varieties of tensors.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Linear Preservers of Chain Majorization
For (n×m matrices) X, Y ∈ Mnm(R)(= Mnm), we say X is chain majorized by Y and write X ≺≺ Y if X = RY where R is a product of finitely many T-transforms. A linear operator T : Mnm → Mnm is said to be a linear preserver of the relation ≺≺ on Mnm if X ≺≺

This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Let \(M_ n(F)\) denote the set of \(n\times n\) matrices with entries in a field F. Linear maps \(L: M_ n(F)\to M_ n(F)\) are considered such that L(adj A)\(=adj(L(A))\) for all \(A\in M_ n(F)\) where F is infinite. For F equal to either the real or complex numbers linear maps are considered which preserve the idempotent matrices and satisfy \(L(I_ n ...
