Surface Hydrogen-Bond Components and Linear Solvation Energy Relationship Parameters

Journal of Adhesion, 1997
Abstract In 1987, van Oss, Chaudhury and Good introduced the Lewis acid (or hydrogen-bond acidic) component, γ+, and Lewis base (or hydrogen-bond basic) component, γ−, and assumed the ratio of γ+ and γ− for water at 20°C to be 1.0. With that ratio, the base components, γ−, for other liquids and polymers appeared to be overestimated.

Quantum chemical descriptors for linear solvation energy relationships

Computers & Chemistry, 1995
Linear solvation energy relationships (LSER) have been successfully used to correlate over 300 complex chemical and biochemical properties with small sets of descriptors related to fundamental characteristics of molecular structure and chemistry. This is a branch of the unnamed science (after Hansch) which is concerned with the intricate interactions ...

Modified linear solvation energy relationships for adsorption of perfluorocarboxylic acids by polystyrene microplastics

Science of The Total Environment, 2023
Microplastics (MPs) could act as vectors of organic pollutants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Therefore, understanding adsorptive interactions are essential steps towards unraveling the fate of PFAS in the natural waters where MPs are ubiquitous.

Solvatochromism and linear solvation energy relationship of the kinase inhibitor SKF86002

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2017
We studied the spectroscopic characteristics of SKF86002, an anti-inflammatory and tyrosine kinase inhibitor drug candidate. Two conformers SKF86002A and SKF86002B are separated by energy barriers of 19.68kJ·mol(-1) and 6.65kJ·mol(-1) due to H-bonds, and produce the three major UV-Vis absorption bands at 325nm, 260nm and 210nm in cyclohexane solutions.

Linear solvation energy relationship of the energy of the absorption maximum of the solvated electron with the solvatochromic parameter alpha

Inorganica Chimica Acta, 1989
Abstract A linear free energy relationship was found between ν max, the energy of the absorption maximum of the solvated electron in various solvents, and the alpha solvatochromic parameter which is a measure of the hydrogen bond donor ability of the solvent.

Modeling Drug‐Melanin Interaction With Theoretical Linear Solvation Energy Relationships

Pigment Cell Research, 1997
The affinity of drugs and other xenobiotic agents for melanin is a well‐known phenomenon, often occurring with serious physiological consequences. For example, the interaction of anti‐psychotic drugs with neuromelanin may play a pivotal role in the induction of extrapyramidal movement disorders associated with the chronic administration of ...

Characterization of novel metallacarborane-based sorbents by linear solvation energy relationships

Journal of Chromatography A, 2014
Two novel metallacarborane-based stationary phases for high performance liquid chromatography were synthesized and characterized utilizing linear solvation energy relationships concept. Interactions taking place between selected probes (45 analytes) and the stationary phases and the mobile phases consisting of a mixture of acetonitrile with buffer were

Linear solvation energy relationships in the determination of phospholipids by supercritical fluid chromatography

The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2021
Abstract The separation of phospholipids was studied using supercritical fluid chromatography. The 2-ethylpyridine (2-EP), hybrid fluoro-phenyl (FP), C18, 2-picolylamine (2-PIC), 1-aminoanthracene (1-AA), DIOL and ethylene bridged hybrid (BEH) were used as stationary phases. Methanol with 0.1% formic acid was used as a co-solvent. For the first time,

Solvatochromism, Linear Solvation Energy Relationships, and Chromatography

Microchemical Journal, 1993
Abstract This work is a review of the phenomenon of solvatochromism, describing in particular its origin in electronic spectroscopy. The physical basis for the Kamlet-Taft π* scale of solvent strength is reviewed and the contributions of solvent dipolarity and polarizability to this empirical scale are emphasized.

A New Linear Solvation Energy Relationship for the Solubility of Liquids in Water

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1996
From a comparison between the linear solvation energy relationship (LSER) and the extended solubility parameter model, it has been found that the solute-solute interaction energy term is missing in the LSER equation. A new LSER equation with the supplementary interaction energy term has been proposed for the solvation process.
