Optimizing of the cable bedding and the ampacity of underground power cables in trefoil formation by using the gravitational search algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesTehnika, 2016
This paper considers the problem of the determination of the optimum values for dimensions of cable trench and cable bedding, interaxial spacings between power cables in trefoil formation and cable ampacities. This non-linear multi-objective optimization

Rupture Process of Subduction-Zone Earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
This review is primarily concerned with the rupture process of large subduction-zone earthquakes determined by various seismological methods, and with its interpretation in terms of an asperity model.

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

120V Low Side LDMOS Device with Sided Isolation of 0.35μm CMOS Compatible Process

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In this paper, a novel 120V multiple RESURF lateral double-diffused MOS (LDMOS) transistor with shallow trench isolation (STI) structure in low side is developed and successfully simulated.

Crosstalk Analysis of SiC Ultraviolet Single Photon Avalanche Photodiode Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
Optical crosstalk is one of major problems limiting the performance of focal plane arrays based on single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). In this work, for the first time the crosstalk characteristics of a 4H-SiC SPAD linear array are studied, which is ...

Sugarcane root system depth in three different countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
THE SUGARCANE root system depth is crucial as it determines the potential depth of soil available for water and nutrient uptake by the crop. It was reported in an early publication that these roots could grow quite deep (6 m), but otherwise very little ...

Sea Beam Survey of an Active Strike-Slip Fault: The San Clemente Fault in the California Continental Borderland [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The San Clemente fault, located in the California Continental Borderland, is an active, northwest trending, right-lateral, wrench fault. Sea Beam data are used to map the major tectonic landforms associated with active submarine faulting in detail ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Mitigation strategies for blasting-induced cracks and vibrations in twin-arch tunnel structures

open access: yesDefence Technology
Due to space constraints in mountainous areas, twin tunnels are sometimes constructed very close to each other or even overlap. This proximity challenges the structural stability of tunnels built with the drill-and-blast method, as the short propagation ...

Magnetically controlled ballistic deposition. A model of polydisperse granular packing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The flow and deposition of polydisperse granular materials is simulated through the Magnetic Diffusion Limited Aggregation (MDLA) model. The random walk undergone by an entity in the MDLA model is modified such that the trajectories are ballistic in ...
