Linear ultrasonic motor with wheel-shaped stator

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2010
A novel linear ultrasonic motor with a wheel-shaped stator using two orthogonal fourth bending modes has been developed. The stator of the motor is a notched piezoelectric composite beam. Eight piezoelectric ceramic rings are clamped orthogonally to excite two orthogonal fourth bending modes of the beam.

Ultrasonic linear motor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
An ultrasonic linear motor including a traveling member having a columnar leg portion abutting at its one end against a traveling surface, and a piezoelectric element mounted on the traveling member for vibrating the leg portion in a direction intersecting an axis of the leg portion.

Prototyping of a Rotary/Linear Ultrasonic Motor

2005 IEEE Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation, 2006
The object of this research is to design and prototype a linear/rotary ultrasonic motor based upon multi-mode resonance behaviors for a piezoelectrically excited driver structure system. The whole ultrasonic motor system includes a pair of piezoactuator-equipped driver rods, a linear/rotary driven shaft, and a set of high-voltage power stages for ...

Development and applications of linear ultrasonic motors

2016 13th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots and Ambient Intelligence (URAI), 2016
This paper proposed structural design methods for the development of high-efficiency linear ultrasonic motors (LUMs) that can be applied in robotic fields. A continuous variable cross-section Langevin vibrator was adopted for higher vibration efficiency of the stator.

Optimization of a new type of ultrasonic linear motor

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2008
This paper presents the design, the properties, and the optimization study of a new type of ultrasonic linear motor. Numerical modeling has been carried out and simulations with software have been realized. To avoid performing a large number of simulations, sensitivity analysis has been carried out, in particular using design of experiments.

A study of linear ultrasonic motor

2009 International Conference on Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetic Devices, 2009
Ultrasonic motor is a novel actuator, which has been developing very fast since its appearance in 1970s. Many studies have been done, in both theoretic and practical fields. With design experience, review of linear ultrasonic motor drive mechanism and classification methods is outlined. The basic design means and general analysis ways are sum up. ANSYS

Twisting Linear to Orbital Angular Momentum in an Ultrasonic Motor

Advanced Materials, 2022
AbstractAn ultrasonic motor built with a contactless meta engine block (MEB) is designed and experimentally demonstrated for twisting the linear momentum of sound emanating from a Helmholtz resonator‐based metasurface into orbital angular momentum (OAM). The MEB is capable of hosting highly efficient excitations of eigenmodes carrying desired OAM whose

Linear stepping ultrasonic motor

Journal of Electroceramics, 2007
A linear stepping ultrasonic motor, based on vibrators alternative driving and slider grooves positioning, is proposed in this paper. The step-by-step movements can be obtained by exciting two vibrators of stator by turns. The motor is capable of bi-direction stepping movements without accumulative position errors driven by an open-loop control circuit,

A four-legged linear ultrasonic motor: Design and experiments

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2020
We designed a four-legged linear ultrasonic motor with a new structure. It uses the in-plane first-order longitudinal vibration mode and the out-of-plane anti-symmetric vibration mode, which are superimposed to produce linear motion. The motor consists of a stator and four groups of eight piezoelectric ceramic sheets.

Linear piezoelectric ultrasonic motor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006
The present invention relates to a linear motor which draws its operating power from ultrasonic vibration above the frequency of 20 kHz which is generated by piezoelectric ceramic. More particularly, the invention relates to a linear piezoelectric ultrasonic motor which linearly operates a slider due to a frictional force generated by applying ...
