Design and optimization of a modal- independent linear ultrasonic motor
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2014To simplify the design of the linear ultrasonic motor (LUSM) and improve its output performance, a method of modal decoupling for LUSMs is proposed in this paper. The specific embodiment of this method is decoupling of the traditional LUSM stator's complex vibration into two simple vibrations, with each vibration implemented by one vibrator.

Contact analysis and experimental investigation of a linear ultrasonic motor
Ultrasonics, 2017The effects of surface roughness are not considered in the traditional motor model which fails to reflect the actual contact mechanism between the stator and slider. An analytical model for calculating the tangential force of linear ultrasonic motor is proposed in this article.

As a type of ultrasonic motors, a linear ultrasonic motor (LUSM) also utilizes the converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics and the ultrasonic vibration of an elastic body [1]. It transfers the micro amplitude motion of a stator into the macro linear motion of a slider by the friction force between the stator and slider.

An ultrasonic linear motor using ridge-mode traveling waves
IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2005A new type of ultrasonic linear motor is presented using traveling waves excited along a ridge atop a substrate. The ridge cross section was designed to permit only the fundamental mode to be excited during operation of the motor, with a Langevin transducer used as the source of vibration in this study. The ridge waveguide was first made of lossy media

A Small-Size Ultrasonic Linear Motor
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1991A new structure for an ultrasonic linear motor using piezoelectric actuators has been developed. The ultrasonic vibrator consists of a metal bar with two legs. The direction of the slider's movement is controlled by changing the polarity of the drive voltage of the multilayered piezoelectric actuator.
