A matheuristic for the liner shipping network design problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a matheuristic, an integer programming based heuristic, for the Liner Shipping Network Design Problem. The heuristic applies a greedy construction heuristic based on an interpretation of the liner shipping network design problem as a multiple quadratic knapsack problem.

Simultaneous Fleet Deployment and Network Design of Liner Shipping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A mixed integer linear programming formulation is proposed for the simultaneous design of network and fleet deployment of a liner service providers for deep-sea shipping. The underlying network design problem is based on a 4-index (5-index by considering capacity type) formulation of the hub location problem which are known for their tightness.

Liner shipping network design: decision support and optimization methods for competitive networks

open access: yes, 2014
Maritime shipping is by far the largest mode of transportation in terms of volume and value, with liner shipping being responsible for a significant amount of the goods transported. Liner carriers operate networks that consist of one or more liner services. A liner service provides a regular service between fixed ports with a fleet of vessels.

Insights on the introduction of autonomous vessels to liner shipping networks

open access: yesJournal of Shipping and Trade, 2022
This article investigates economic and operational effects of introducing autonomous vessels to liner shipping networks. By the formulation of optimization models, we analyze how fleet configurations with vessels of different capacity affect the cost and

The impact of seasonal demand fluctuations on service network design of container feeder lines

open access: yesJournal of Transportation and Logistics, 2016
Customer demand in global supply networks is highly uncertain due to unexpected global and local economic conditions and, in addition, affected by seasonal demand fluctuations for final products.

Liner Shipping Network Design with Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesCoRR
This paper proposes a novel reinforcement learning framework to address the Liner Shipping Network Design Problem (LSNDP), a challenging combinatorial optimization problem focused on designing cost-efficient maritime shipping routes. Traditional methods for solving the LSNDP typically involve decomposing the problem into sub-problems, such as network ...

IV Thrombolysis Facilitates Interventional Reperfusion in Non‐Cardioembolic but Not Cardioembolic Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) before thrombectomy for ischemic stroke may alter clot structure and procedural performance. We investigated how IVT relates to thrombectomy metrics across stroke etiologies. Methods We performed a time‐to‐event analysis of consecutive patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion (acLVO ...
