Semiconductor Microlaser Linewidths

Physical Review Letters, 1994
Semiconductor microdisk laser linewidths are measured for cavity volumes near a cubic wavelength. The linewidths remain near the subthreshold values for pump powers well above threshold in agreement with a microscopic theory that includes the coupled dynamics of the optical emission and the nonequilibrium electron-hole gas in the cavity.

Subhertz-linewidth Nd:YAG laser

Optics Letters, 2004
Light from a Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm is independently stabilized to two Fabry-Perot etalons situated on separate vibration-isolation platforms. A heterodyne beat measurement shows their relative frequency stability to be at the part-in-10(15) level at 5 s and the relative linewidth to be less than 1 Hz.

Narrow-linewidth unstable resonator

Optics Letters, 1988
We describe the use of an asymmetric feedback ring in an unstable resonator to obtain arbitrarily narrow-linewidth radiation across the full available aperture. We demonstrate its use with an electric-discharge XeCl laser to produce single-line radiation with a linewidth of 0.15 cm−1.

Linewidth narrowing of polaritons

Physical Review B, 1996
Polaritons are formed when the electromagnetic field couples to excitons in a semiconductor. In their high-quality semiconductor quantum microcavities, Fisher et al. observe an unexpected decrease in the polariton linewidth (the full width at half maximum) near resonance.

Linewidth for fluxon oscillators

Physical Review B, 1982
Soliton perturbation theory is used to calculate the fluxon oscillator linewidth arising from fluxon interaction with background radiation. Detailed calculations in the case of an oscillator that is long compared with the Josephson length and for which the radiation field is thermal establish lower bounds for the linewidth of a real oscillator.

Continuously linewidth tunable, polarisation maintaining, narrow linewidth fiber laser

Fiber Lasers XVI: Technology and Systems, 2019
High power polarised narrow linewidth sources are of immense importance in coherent beam combining (increased path length accuracy), spectral beam combining (reduced angular spread), non-linear frequency conversion (increased parametric gain) and remote detection.

Subnatural linewidth spectroscopy

Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics, 1980
The possibility of subnatural linewidth laser absorption spectroscopy is discussed and several examples using pulsed and CW excitation are proposed.

Laser Linewidth

Physics Today, 1985
One of the most important properties of laser light is its spectral purity and coherence. This unique quality has been important for the study of many new physical phenomena using laser sources that operate from the vacuum ultraviolet to the far infrared.

Photolithographic linewidth control

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1975
A simple model for the image formation process in photoresist is proposed based on Fresnel diffraction from the edge of a mask feature. It is shown theoretically and verified experimentally that the dimensional difference between a clear mask feature and its image in photoresist is given by aL½[ ln (E i ) - ln (E T ) + ln (K) ] where a and K are ...
