On the Effect of Geometries Simplification on Geo-spatial Link Discovery

open access: yesProcedia Computer Science, 2018
Abstract Link discovery is central to the integration and use of data across RDF knowledge bases. Geospatial information is increasingly represented according to the Linked Data principles. Resources within such datasets are described by means of vector geometry, where link discovery approaches have to deal with millions of point sets consisting of ...

Visualisation, imagery, and the development of geometrical reasoning

open access: yes, 1998
This report focuses on some aspects of the nature and role of visualisation and imagery in the teaching and learning of mathematics, particularly as a component in the development of geometrical reasoning.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Crystal structure of bis[2-(benzothiazol-2-yl)phenolato-κ2N,O]copper(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
In the title complex, [Cu(C13H8NOS)2], the CuII atom is coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two bidentate benzothiazolphenolate ligands, forming a distorted tetrahedral geometry [dihedral angle between two N—Cu—O planes: 45.1 (2)°].

Decomposition of Kolmogorov Complexity And Link To Geometry

open access: yesCoRR, 2012
A link between Kolmogorov Complexity and geometry is uncovered. A similar concept of projection and vector decomposition is described for Kolmogorov Complexity. By using a simple approximation to the Kolmogorov Complexity, coded in Mathematica, the derived formulas are tested and used to study the geometry of Light Cone.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Bis(2-aminopyrimidine-κN1)dibromidozinc(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
The title compound, [ZnBr2(C4H5N3)2], is a mononuclear complex in which the ZnII ions have distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. The ZnII ion binds to two N atoms from two different 2-aminopyrimidine ligands and two bromide ions.

Online multivariate changepoint detection: leveraging links with computational geometry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology
Abstract The increasing volume of data streams poses significant computational challenges for detecting changepoints online. Likelihood-based methods are effective, but a naive sequential implementation becomes impractical online due to high computational costs.

Noncommutative differential calculus and Calabi-Yau geometry

open access: yes, 2019
Quivers with potential appear naturally in the study of the deformation theory of objects in 3D Calabi-Yau categories, for example the deformation of vector bundles on 3D Calabi-Yau manifolds.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.
