Reuniting data and narrative in scientific articles

open access: yesInsights: The UKSG Journal, 2012
Data and narrative are both important for scientific discourse. They are ‘united’ in the mind of the scientist-author, yet the current publishing process favours narrative at the expense of data, making it hard to recreate experiments, intuitively link ...

Shedding Light on Blind Spot of Backward Privacy in Dynamic Searchable Symmetric Encryption

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Dynamic searchable symmetric encryption (DSSE) enables users to outsource their data while retaining the capability to search and update on the encrypted database. Although various DSSE schemes have been proposed to achieve higher efficiency and stronger

Linkability in iterated line graphs

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2006
The authors prove that for every graph \(H\) with minimum degree \(\delta\geq 5\), the third iterated line graph \(L^3(H)\) of \(H\) contains \(K_t\) as a minor, \(t= \delta\cdot\lfloor\sqrt{\delta-1}\rfloor\). Using this statement, the authors prove that if \(G\) is a connected graph distinct from a path, then there is a number \(k_G\) such that for ...

Early Body Mass Index z‐Score Change and Resolution of Severe Malnutrition in Children With Sickle Cell Anemia in a Low‐Income Setting: A Prospective Single‐Arm Extension Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell anemia (SCA) in low‐income settings are at risk of severe malnutrition, but optimal nutritional management has not been established. We evaluated an intensified ready‐to‐use therapeutic food (RUTF) regimen in children with persistent severe malnutrition after initial treatment and assessed whether early ...

Social Functioning Within the First Years After Pediatric Brain Tumor Diagnosis and the Relationship With Family Psychosocial Risk

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of pediatric brain tumors (PBTs) can experience long‐term social difficulties, impacting quality of life. Beyond medical and environmental factors, family psychosocial risk may play a role in social outcomes by shaping the caregiving environment and may provide intervention options.

On the linkability of Zcash transactions

open access: yesCoRR, 2017
Zcash is a fork of Bitcoin with optional anonymity features. While transparent transactions are fully linkable, shielded transactions use zero-knowledge proofs to obscure the parties and amounts of the transactions. First, we observe various metrics regarding the usage of shielded addresses.
