کتان سفید (Linum album Kotschy ex Boiss.) گیاهی چندساله و دیپلوئید (26=x2=n2) و یکی از گونه‌های بومی ایران و از خانواده کتان (Linaceace) است که دارای ماده مؤثره پودوفیلوتوکسین می‌باشد. این ماده یک محصول طبیعی مهم دارویی است که به گروه شیمیایی لیگنان‌ها تعلق دارد. به‌عنوان یک پیش‌ماده برای سنتز داروهای ضدسرطانی استفاده می‌شود.
