Visceral oil from farmed Sparus aurata, Dicentrarchus labrax and Diplodus puntazzo as a source of ω-3 PUFA

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2017
Crude oils recovered from the viscera of conventionally and organically farmed gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata), European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and sharpsnout sea bream (Diplodus puntazzo) were characterised.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Analysis of hexane extracts of corn hybrids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2015
Groups of corn hybrids with common genetic constitutions were analyzed. The lipid compounds from 13 samples of corn flour were extracted with n-hexane. Trimethylsulfonium hydroxide (TMSH) was applied for derivatization of fatty acids into volatile methyl

The effect of modulating membrane lipid composition on the thermal sensitivity of tumour cells in culture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The plasma membrane, which separates intracellular contents from extra cellular milieu, consists of a lipid bilayer comprising mainly phospholipids and cholesterol together with various functional proteins, which control the interaction of the cell with ...

Changes in lipid content, fatty acid composition and lipid class composition of eggs and developing larvae (0-40 days old) of cultured common dentex (Dentex dentex Linnaeus 1758)

open access: yes, 2008
Total lipid content, fatty acid (FA) composition and lipid class composition of common dentex eggs spawned at different times and larvae reared under different culture conditions until 40 days posthatch (dph) were analysed to get a general pattern of ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

The Effect of Membrane Lipid Composition on the Formation of Lipid Ultrananodomains [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2015
Some lipid mixtures form membranes containing submicroscopic (nanodomain) ordered lipid domains (rafts). Some of these nanodomains are so small (radius
