The Lipoprotein and Lipid Pattern in Xanthomatosis

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1975
Abstract. The relation between xanthomatosis and plasma lipid and lipoprotein concentrations has been studied in 336 subjects (172 males and 164 females) with xanthomatosis. With a few exceptions, these patients were either born or lived in Østfold county, which has a population of about 220 000.

THE LIPID PATTERN IN NORMALS AND ATHEROSCLEROTICS

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1971
Abstract. Blood lipid studies with lipoprotein typing a.m. Fredrickson were performed in 1 155 persons including 207 normals, 559 coronary heart disease patients, and 101 patients with atherosclerosis obliterans of the lower limbs. The results of lipoprotein typing were as follows. Type Normal: 43.2%, 54.8%, and 66.8%. Type II: 43.9%, 32.3%, and 20.3%.

Altered plasma lipid pattern in falciparum malaria

Annals of Tropical Medicine & Parasitology, 1992
Plasma levels of HDL, LDL, total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured in 60 patients with falciparum malaria (37 severe cases and 23 mild) and in 83 healthy individuals, to study malaria-induced changes in plasma lipids. Triglyceride levels were lower in the patients than in the controls but the difference was significant only for those with ...

Fatty Acid Pattern of Human Prostasome Lipid

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1998
Prostasomes are organelles of prostatic origin found in human semen. Their average diameter is about 150 nm and they appear as a lipoprotein membrane surrounding less organized material. Their lipid composition is peculiar, having much cholesterol and sphingomyelin.

Hybrid Protein−Lipid Patterns from Aluminum Templates

Langmuir, 2006
An aqueous aluminum liftoff process suitable for fabrication of hybrid patterns of protein and supported lipid membrane on silica surfaces is described. Patterned aluminum thin films, which can be produced by conventional optical or electron beam lithography, are employed as sacrificial protecting layers to define the geometry of the protein-lipid ...

Leptomeningeal lipid storage patterns in Fabry disease

Acta Neuropathologica, 1994
We found two patterns of leptomeningeal storage that reflect two basic visceral storage patterns in Fabry disease. (i) A generalized-type leptomeningeal storage pattern, affecting all main leptomeningeal cell types (external arachnoideal epithelium, fibroblasts, vessel wall elements), was a consistent finding in three cases of classical generalized ...

Patterns in lipid chemistry

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1958
AbstractUnsaturation in fatty acids follows definite patterns. In the mono‐ethylenic acids a nine‐carbon chain occurs frequently on one side or the other of the double bond, a fact probably significant in relation to the structure of oleic acid. The non‐conjugated polyenoic acids fall mainly into three series, showing affinities with oleic, linoleic ...
