Lipopolysaccharide Binding Protein-mediated Complexation of Lipopolysaccharide with Soluble CD14 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1995
Endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide; LPS) activates a wide variety of host defense mechanisms. In mammals LPS binding protein (LBP) and CD14 interact with LPS to mediate cellular activation. Using sucrose density gradients and a fluorescent endotoxin derivative we have investigated the mechanism of LPS binding to LBP and the soluble form of CD14 (sCD14). LPS

Dual‐Nanoparticle Engineered Hydrogel Reverses Bicellular Oxidative Stress to Accelerate Diabetic Fracture Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
CD105‐LNPs and PS‐LNPs can deliver α‐lipoic acid to bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and bone marrow‐derived macrophages, reversing high glucose‐induced oxidative stress while enhancing osteogenesis and M2 polarization. Integrating both nanoparticles into glucose‐responsive hyaluronic acid hydrogel forms DLNPs@HA hydrogel, which accelerates diabetic ...

Distribution of endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide) in the tissues of lipopolysaccharide-responsive and -unresponsive mice [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1978
We examined the distribution of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in LPS-responsive (C3H/St) and LPS-unresponsive (C3H/HeJ) mice. The results reported here demonstrate that the rates of removal of an immunological or a toxic dose of LPS from the circulation are the same in both strains of mice.

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

Sepsis-Associated Encephalopathy: The Blood–Brain Barrier and the Sphingolipid Rheostat

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
Sepsis is not only a significant cause of mortality worldwide but has particularly devastating effects on the central nervous system of survivors. It is therefore crucial to understand the molecular structure, physiology, and events involved in the ...

ANTIVIRAL ACTIVITY OF LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDES OF Pseudomonas chlororaphis subsp. aureofaciens [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologia Acta, 2017
The aim of the study was to investigate the ability of lipopolysaccharides of two strains of Pseudomonas chlororaphis subsp. aureofaciens to inhibit in vitro the reproduction of human viruses: influenza A/FM/1/47 (H1N1), herpes simplex type 2 and ...

Structural Investigation of the Oligosaccharide Portion Isolated from the Lipooligosaccharide of the Permafrost Psychrophile Psychrobacter arcticus 273-4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Psychrophilic microorganisms have successfully colonized all permanently cold environments from the deep sea to mountain and polar regions. The ability of an organism to survive and grow in cryoenviroments depends on a number of adaptive strategies aimed
