Pyruvate Carboxylase in Macrophages Aggravates Atherosclerosis by Regulating Metabolism Reprogramming to Promote Inflammatory Responses Through the Hypoxia‐Inducible Factor‐1 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of macrophage pyruvate carboxylase (PC) in atherosclerosis (AS) demonstrating that PC upregulation in macrophages promotes metabolism reprogramming to enhance inflammatory responses via the HIF‐1 signaling pathway.

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Membrane receptors for very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) inhibitor of lymphocyte proliferation [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1981
Abstract Physiologic concentrations of human plasma very low density lipoproteins inhibit the DNA synthesis of lymphocytes stimulated by allogeneic cells or lectins. In this report we have compared the effects of isolated lipoproteins [very low density lipoproteins (VLDL), low density lipoproteins (LDL), and high density lipoproteins ...

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Effects of weight reduction on blood lipids and lipoproteins: a meta-analysis.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1992
Studies designed to examine effects of weight reduction by dieting on total cholesterol (TC), low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), very-low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL-C), and triglycerides (

Hepatic Golgi lipoproteins: precursors to plasma lipoproteins in hypercholesterolemic rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1982
Two classes of nascent lipoproteins can be isolated from Golgi apparatus-rich fractions of liver from hypercholesterolemic rats. Golgi very low density lipoproteins (VLDL, d less than 1.006 g/ml) are enriched in cholesteryl esters and are similar in many

Lipoproteins in familial dysbetalipoproteinemia. Variation of serum cholesterol level associated with VLDL concentration. [PDF]

open access: yesArteriosclerosis and Thrombosis: A Journal of Vascular Biology, 1993
Patients with familial dysbetalipoproteinemia (FD) associated with the apo E2/2 phenotype exhibit a marked interindividual variability in serum cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations. It has been proposed that this variability is due to a combination of the apo E2/2 phenotype and additional genetic factors implicated in diseases like familial ...

Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological Activities, and Toxicology of the Subfamily Gomphrenoideae (Amaranthaceae): A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its ...

Biosynthesis of lymph and plasma lipoprotein apoproteins by isolated perfused rat liver and intestine

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
The ability of rat intestine and liver to synthesize the various apoproteins of plasma lipoproteins was investigated. After the individual isolated organs were perfused with blood containing [3H]lysine, chylomicrons plus very low density lipoproteins ...

Exploring the Molecular Pathways Underlying the Anti‐Diabetic Effects of Millets

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Millet consumption may modulate gluconeogenesis and glycolysis, enhance glucose transporter activity, increase leptin levels, inhibit the NF‐κB pathway, and mitigate oxidative and nitrosative stress. ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemic conditions resulting from inadequate insulin production or ...
