The Relationship Between Catalyst and Solvent in Hydrogenation via Condensed Phase Heterogeneous Catalysis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Heterogeneous catalysis has historically been developed in the gas phase, however, we have found it pertinent to highlight solvent effects that must be accounted for in liquid environments. Condensed phase catalysis, like that in biomass, petroleum and the conversion of CO2, stands to benefit from the typically overlooked discussion regarding the ...

LNG as Alternative Fuel for European Transport System

open access: yesCommunications, 2014
This paper gives basic information about Liquefied Natural Gas as a greener alternative to other fossil fuels. It focuses on basic properties of LNG, which are fundamental to understanding LNG correctly and then possibly use it as a fuel for ships ...

Behavioral Selection of Coprophagy in an Arid‐Adapted Herbivore: Does a Compatibility–Risk Gradient Shape Selective Coprophagy?

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Estimated amount of each scat type consumed by Texas tortoises (Gopherus berlandieri) during 48‐h feeding trials expressed as area under the cumulative‐consumption curve (AUC; ±95% CI). Coprophagy is prevalent in Texas tortoises, and tortoises selectively choose feces along a compatibility‐risk gradient, which is evolutionarily meaningful.

LIQUIFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) CARRIERS

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 2010
Modern liquefied natural gas carriers are double-bottom ships classified according to the type of LNG tank. The tanks are specially designed to store natural gas cooled to -161°C, the boiling point of methane.

Successful Application of Deep Learning to Biosecurity Surveillance: A Systematic Approach Using the Asian House Gecko, Hemidactylus frenatus as a Case Study

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Invasive gecko species, such as the Asian House gecko, have the potential to threaten native gecko species for food and habitat, when introduced into new areas. We examine the role of artificial intelligence, in rapid detection of this species, to allow early triage of identification of the Asian House gecko, where biosecurity measures are in place for

Investments in Gas Pipelines and Liquefied Natural Gas Infrastructure. What is the Impact on the Security of Supply? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses the question of the infrastructure investment required for gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) connections to meet growing gas demand in an enlarged EU over the next 20 years.

Fuel Consumption and Emissions Reductions of Hybrid Electric Regional‐Haul Trucks Equipped with a High‐Pressure Direct Injection Natural Gas Engine in Real‐World Driving Conditions

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Integrating powertrain electrification with efficient engines using low‐carbon fuels like natural gas (NG) improves energy conversion efficiency and mitigates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in heavy‐duty (HD) trucks. High‐pressure direct injection (HPDI) NG engines, using less than 5% diesel (energy basis) as pilot fuel, offer diesel‐like efficiency ...

Energy Security in the EU and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yes
Past episodes of energy insecurity have been fleeting and the fears have been assuaged by market forces or technical change. This paper analyses the nature of the EU's current energy security problems, emphasising the increased importance of natural gas ...

The importance of LNG for natural gas consumption in the EU

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
The World market of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is growing rapidly. In 2015 LNG production exceeded 333 bcm with its predicted increase up to 450 bcm in 2019. The analysis of LNG role in natural gas import to the EU in recent years shows variability: LNG

The Iron Ore, Coal and Gas Sectors [PDF]

open access: yes
The industrialisation of Asia – particularly China and India – has led to a strong increase in global demand for key resource commodities. The associated sharp rise in the prices of these commodities has underpinned a significant increase in the levels ...
