Liquid-liquid equilibrium constant for acetic acid in an olive oil-epoxidized olive oil-acetic acid-hydrogen peroxide-water system [PDF]
The liquid-liquid equilibrium constant for acetic acid in a quinary system olive oil-epoxidized olive oil-acetic acid-hydrogen peroxide-water was experimentally determined for temperatures and component ratios relevant for in situ epoxidation of

Liquid membrane extraction of bio-active amphiphilic substances: Recovery of surfactin [PDF]
The interest of application of liquid membrane (pertraction) processes for recovery of biosurfactants from aqueous media was demonstrated. Transport of pure surfactin in three-liquid-phase system was studied.

Dielectrophoresis-Driven Spreading of Immersed Liquid Droplets
In recent years electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) has become an effective tool to control partial wetting. EWOD uses the liquid−solid interface as part of a capacitive structure that allows capacitive and interfacial energies to adjust by changes in ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Solid-Liquid Equilibria Modelling for triacylglycerols exhibiting multiple solid phases [PDF]
Important end-use properties of vegetable oils based edible products are strong related to the equilibrium between a solid crystalline network and a liquid phase.

UNIFAC Model for Liquid-Liquid Phase Equilibrium of Penicillin G and 6-APA System
This study investigated the effect of pH and type of solvent on liquid-liquid phase equilibrium in the system of pure penicillin G and mixed penicillin G with 6-APA.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
