Improved extraction technique for biological fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Liquid-liquid extraction technique speeds up separation of biological fluids into number of compounds. This eliminates agitation, emulsion formation, centrifugation, mechanical separation of phases, filtration, and other steps that have been used ...

Temperature-dependent thermal expansivities of silicate melts: The system anorthite-diopside [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
The temperature-dependent thermal expansivities of melts along the join anorthite-diopside have been determined on glassy and liquid samples using a combination of calorimetry, dilatometry, and Pt double bob Archimedean densitometry.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Liquid-liquid extraction of cerium using synergist extractant

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2018
This work studies on the performance of synergist extractants on the extraction of Cerium (Ce) alone. Conventional extractant, 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-thienyl)-1,3- butanedione (HTTA) was combined with 3-methylimidazolium bis(triflouromethylsulfonyl)imide [

Flash-Point prediction for binary partially miscible aqueous-organic mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Flash point is the most important variable used to characterize fire and explosion hazard of liquids. Herein, partially miscible mixtures are presented within the context of liquid-liquid extraction processes and heterogeneous distillation processes ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Crossflow Filtration of Sodium Chloride Solution by A Polymeric Nanofilter: Minimization of Concentration Polarization by a Novel Backpulsing Method [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2016
In the present study, the production of low-salt water from salty water by nanofiltration as well as membrane fouling was investigated. Furthermore, a new method was proposed and tested experimentally for creating the backpulse in order to minimization ...
