Phase inversion in liquid phase for air-liquid horizontal flow

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2020
This project is primarily aimed at determining the effect of phase inversion on oil-water dispersion from a three-phase mixture comprising of an oil-water emulsion at different oil percentages and air at varying liquid and gas flowrates through a ...

Constant-output atomizer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
A constant-output atomizer includes a body which has a generally frustoconical expansion nozzle for producing an air jet when a supply of pressurized air is connected to the nozzle upstream of the throat of the nozzle.

Levelised Cost of Storage (LCOS) analysis of liquid air energy storage system integrated with Organic Rankine Cycle

open access: yes, 2020
Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) is a unique decoupled grid-scale energy storage system that stores energy through air liquefaction process. In order to further increase the utilization ratio of the available waste heat discharged by the air compression ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

ZYG11B participates in the modulation of colorectal cancer cell proliferation and immune infiltration and is a prognostic biomarker

open access: yesBMC Cancer
Propose The biological function of ZYG11B is still unclear, and few studies on ZYG11B in colorectal cancer were reported. The purpose of our research is to detect the biological functions of ZYG11B in colorectal cancer through The Cancer Genome Atlas ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Experimental Study of RBM Effect at Air-Liquid Interface of Liquid Desiccant Air Conditioning

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2011
Mechanism of RBM effects in liquid desiccant process was analyzed. Experiments were conducted to test RBM effect in the process of dehumidification and regeneration, as well as RBM effects on performance of heat and mass transfer.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Breaking the Rayleigh-Plateau instability limit using thermocavitation within a droplet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We report on the generation of liquid columns that extend far beyond the traditional Rayleigh-Plateau instability onset. The columns are driven by the acoustic pressure wave emitted after bubble collapse.
