The mechanics of film cooling-Part 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1954
Thin liquid wall films flowing under the influence of high-velocity turbulent gas streams were studied for the purpose of obtaining an understanding of the mechanics of film cooling.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Analysis of systems for cooling liquid injection in turbine engine gas flow duct

open access: yesАвіаційно-космічна техніка та технологія
The subject of this article is a system for cooling liquid injection in gas flow duct of aviation gas-turbine engine (GTE). The goal is to soften the acuteness of contradictions between economic and ecological requirements; ecological requirements and ...

Heat Dissipation for Microprocessor Using Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Based Liquid

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of the most valuable materials with high thermal conductivity (2000 W/m·K compared with thermal conductivity of Ag 419 W/m·K).

The boiling suppression of liquid nitrogen

open access: yes, 2009
When He gas is injected from room temperature into boiling liquid N$_{2}$, boiling is suppressed, leaving liquid surface flat like a mirror. Although the qualitative explanation for this phenomenon is known [Minkoff G J \textit{et al}.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Thermo-mechanical analysis of additively manufactured hybrid extrusion dies with conformal cooling channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Profile overheating and surface defects during hot aluminum extrusion can occur when seeking higher productivity rates at increased ram speed velocities. The incorporation of cooling channels in the die-design allows overcoming this process limitation by ...

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...
