A study of the thermoregulatory characteristics of a liquid-cooled garment with automatic temperature control based on sweat rate: Experimental investigation and biothermal man-model development [PDF]

open access: yes
Experimental results for three subjects walking on a treadmill at exercise rates of up to 590 watts showed that thermal comfort could be maintained in a liquid cooled garment by using an automatic temperature controller based on sweat rate.

Process for producing tris s(n-methylamino) methylsilane [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
A method of producing tris (N-methylamine) methylsilane is described including the steps of forming and cooling a liquid solution of methylamine in an inert solvent and under an inert atmosphere at a temperature of about -30 C and slowly adding a ...

Photocatalytic Versus Stoichiometric Hydrogen Generation Using Mesoporous Silicon Catalysts: The Complex Role of Sacrificial Reagents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of accounting for stoichiometric hydrogen produced when utilizing Si photocatalysts. The stoichiometric contribution is sacrificial reagent dependent and decreases with increasing sterics around the catalyst surface.

A small helium liquifier which provides continuous cooling based on cycled isentropic expansion [PDF]

open access: yes
This simple cryocooler provides a small reservoir of liquid helium at a stable temperature of 4.2K. It uses a novel adaptation of the Simon expansion cryocooler to provide continuous cooling.

Status of MICE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Muon ionization cooling is the only practical method for preparing high-brilliance beams needed for a neutrino factory or muon collider. The muon ionization cooling experiment (MICE) under development at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory comprises a ...

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

A Xenon Condenser with a Remote Liquid Storage Vessel

open access: yes, 2009
We describe the design and operation of a system for xenon liquefaction in which the condenser is separated from the liquid storage vessel. The condenser is cooled by a pulse tube cryocooler, while the vessel is cooled only by the liquid xenon itself ...

CO2 Reduction on Copper‐Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon Catalysts Tuned by Pulsed Potential Electrolysis: Effect of Pulse Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that pulsed potential electrolysis significantly improves CO2 reduction performance on copper‐nitrogen doped carbon electrodes. The formation of cationic copper sites and metallic clusters as a function of applied intermittent potential leads to notable selectivity changes compared to potentiostatic reduction.
