Liquid Crystal Displays

Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1973
The various steps in the application of liquid crystals to displays are reviewed. First, the general classifications of liquid crystals and some common compounds are presented. Then, electrode materials and techniques for cell construction are discussed. Next, the diverse surface orientation methods are discussed.

Liquid crystal displays

2018
Over the past half century, liquid crystal displays (LCDs) have grown to be one of the most successful optoelectronic technologies, becoming an integral part of communication devices and often an enabling technology. This success has required many adaptions to meet the requirements of everincreasing complexity and performance.

Liquid crystal displays

Electronics Education, 2002
Students use liquid crystal displays (LCDs) every day of their life. Mobile phones, games consoles, photocopiers, vending machines etc. all use LCDs to display information. Now students building microcontroller systems can incorporate LCDs into their projects.

Matrix-addressed liquid-crystal display

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1972
In order to develop simple low-cost liquid-crystal matrix displays, 5 × 7 dots alphanumeric matrix display panels with 7 × 80 elements have been made and tested. A newly synthesized nematic liquid crystal, p-methoxy-p'-ethylazoxybenzene, was used in the panels as the major component of the liquid crystals. The crosstalk was found effectively suppressed

Reflective multicolor liquid-crystal display

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1986
A reflective multicolor matrix LCD with micro color filters is investigated. In order to improve the brightness of the LCD, contrast and brightness of various liquid-crystal display modes are analyzed. This analysis suggests the choice of the phase-change-type guest-host mode. The optimal parameters for this mode are derived.

Liquid Crystal Displays

2015
Liquid crystals are commonly used in electronic visual displays for a wide range of applications, and the consumer electronics market drives the development and innovation of these devices. It may seem unusual that a material that does not generate light would be of use as a display material, but the optical properties of liquid crystals as a modulator

Liquid Crystal Displays

2010
Now we are going to move onto another popular method of displaying text and symbols and that is the LCD (liquid crystal display). These are the type of displays typically used in calculators or alarm clocks. Many Arduino projects use these, so it is essential that you know how to use them, too.
