Evaluation of liquid desiccant regenerator for evaporative cooling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Liquid desiccant air conditioning evaporative cooling system is an alternative to traditional dehumidification in hot and humid areas due to their advantages in being environmentally friendly, removing pollutants from the process air, and reducing ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Experimental investigation on LiCl-KCOOH blend for enhancing hybrid liquid desiccant–vapour compression system performance

open access: yesSolar Compass
Conventional vapour compression system (VCS) consumes a substantial amount of energy to maintain human thermal comfort, while its inability to control humidity precisely has led to the exploration of alternative cooling technologies.

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

A review of internal cooling strategies in liquid desiccant dehumidification and cooling systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
Air conditioning systems have become an integral part of society, and their utilization is increasing day by day. Most air conditioning systems use the vapor compression refrigeration (VCR) principle, which is a 190-year-old technology and has undergone ...

Study on the Performance of Dehumidifier with Liquid Desiccant

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2017
In the liquid desiccant air conditioning system, the dehumidifier is a core component of the system. An experimental platform is built to be used for the dehumidifier performance test in the liquid desiccant air conditioning system. The measuring points are arranged in the dehumidification tower with LiCl solution as the desiccant, where the diameter ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...
