Abstract Two models of a liquid-hydrogen Cerenkov counter have been constructed and tested. The first served as a prototype and was used to demonstrate the feasibility of the design concept and to show that liquid hydrogen does not give scintillation light of intensity comparable to that of Cerenkov light.
