A liquid progressive multifocal lens adjusted by the deformation of a non-uniform elastic membrane due to the variation of liquid pressure

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2018
Background In this paper, a liquid progressive multifocal lens with solid-liquid structure is demonstrated, which mainly consists of two elastic polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) membranes, a solid substrate and liquid. Methods To realize the adjustment of the

Monocular Real Time Full Resolution Depth Estimation Arrangement with a Tunable Lens

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This work introduces a real-time full-resolution depth estimation device, which allows integral displays to be fed with a real-time light-field. The core principle of the technique is a high-speed focal stack acquisition method combined with an efficient

Optimization of Zoom Lens with Discrete State of Liquid Lens Elements by Using Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
This paper is to employ liquid lens elements to design a lens with zoom function by using the genetic algorithm (GA) optimization. The liquid lens elements used in the proposal can apply voltage adjustment to generate the electrical field that induces ...

Underwater Hyperspectral Imaging System with Liquid Lenses

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The underwater hyperspectral imager enables the detection and identification of targets on the seafloor by collecting high-resolution spectral images. The distance between the hyperspectral imager and the targets cannot be consistent in real operation by

Liquid Refractive Index Measurement System Based on Electrowetting Lens

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
In this paper, a liquid refractive index (LRI) measurement system based on an electrowetting lens was proposed. The system is composed of a light source, a collimating lens, a liquid measurement chamber (LMC), an electrowetting lens and an image sensor ...

Adaptive dielectric liquid lens

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
A tunable-focus liquid lens using dielectrophoretic effect is demonstrated. When a voltage is applied to a dielectric liquid droplet, the generated electric field inside the droplet is inhomogeneous. As a result, the liquid bears a dielectric force and its surface profile can be reshaped which causes the focal length to change.

A Study of Optical Design on 9× Zoom Ratio by Using a Compensating Liquid Lens

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2015
This paper proposes using a liquid lens as a compensating lens and applying intermediate optics to achieve a 9× zoom ratio. The droplet shape and location of the liquid lens can be adjusted reversibly, enabling the focal length and position of the lens ...

Photoaligned Tunable Liquid Crystal Lenses with Parabolic Phase Profile

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
We present a theoretical model of a cylindrical tunable liquid crystal lens based on the modulation of anchoring energy. The latter can be easily obtained using photoalignment techniques.

Zoom lens design using liquid lens for laparoscope

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
Traditional laparoscopic optical systems consisting of about 30 lenses have low optical magnification. To magnify tissue during surgical operations, one must change from one laparoscope to another or use a magnifying adapter between the laparoscope and the sensor.
