Magnetically Driven Manipulation of Nonmagnetic Liquid Marbles: Billiards with Liquid Marbles
Liquid marbles are droplets encapsulated by a layer of hydrophobic nanoparticles and have been extensively employed in digital microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip systems in recent years.

Freezing of a Liquid Marble [PDF]
In this study, we present for the first time the observations of a freezing liquid marble. In the experiment, liquid marbles are gently placed on the cold side of a Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC) and the morphological changes are recorded and characterized

Electrowetting of liquid marbles [PDF]
Electrowetting of water drops on structured superhydrophobic surfaces are known to cause an irreversible change from a slippy (Cassie-Baxter) to a sticky (Wenzel) regime.

Coalescence of electrically charged liquid marbles [PDF]
© The Royal Society of Chemistry. In this work, we investigated the coalescence of liquid water marbles driven by a DC electric field. We have found that two contacting liquid marbles can be forced to coalesce when they are charged by a sufficiently high

Liquid Marbles in Liquid [PDF]
AbstractTraditional liquid marbles (LMs), liquid droplets encapsulated by hydrophobic particles at the liquid–gas interface, are restricted by their short lifetime and low heat transfer efficiency. Herein, a new paradigm for LMs immersed in various liquid mediums with massive enhanced heat transfer and spatial recognition is designed; without ...

Synthesis and characterization of hydrophobised magnetite nanoparticles for production of liquid marbles and modeling of liquid marble deformation under the gravity effect [PDF]
Liquid marbles are emerging discrete droplet microfluidic systems that are a simple alternative to conventional droplet microfluids encapsulated by hydrophobic nanoparticles or micro-particles.

The gelatin-based liquid marbles for cell cryopreservation
As an alternative and a straightforward cryopreservation biotechnological tool, liquid marble provides a promising cryopreservation approach. Currently, effective cell preservation mainly based on the addition of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and fetal ...

Liquid Marble Photosensor [PDF]
AbstractA liquid marble is a liquid droplet coated by a hydrophobic powder. The liquid marble does not wet adjacent surfaces and therefore can be manipulated as a dry soft body. A Belousov‐Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction is an oscillatory chemical reaction exhibiting waves of oxidation. We demonstrate how to make a photo‐sensor from BZ medium liquid marbles.
