High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Theory of hydrogen in liquid and solid metals [PDF]
A method for calculating the interatomic forces between isolated hydrogens and their host metal atoms is outlined. The method uses a semiempirical, molecular-orbital approach for a suitable cluster of atoms, with the empirical parameters fitted to ...

Theory of One-Channel vs. Multi-Channel Kondo Effects for Ce$^{3+}$ Impurities
We introduce a model for Ce$^{3+}$ impurities in cubic metals which exhibits competition between the Fermi-liquid fixed point of the single channel Kondo model and the non-Fermi-liquid fixed point of the two- and three-channel Kondo models. Using the non-

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Liquid metal flow controls at liquid metal experiment
Liquid metal flow behavior under magnetic field and electric current is investigated in experiment and numerical simulations. Several aspects of the resulted Lorentz force action are discussed and demonstrated. The enhanced flow mixing induced by the non-uniform current density appears to be crucial for the heat transfer efficiency.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.
