Bioluminescence assay of calcium with a liquid scintillation counter

Experientia, 1983
The luminescence produced by Ca aequorin reaction in dilute solutions decays exponentially over a relatively prolonged period of time. The concentration of total Ca and of free Ca in Ca-EGTA buffers could be determined by measuring the decay of luminescence in a liquid scintillation counter.

Measurement of tritium with high efficiency by using liquid scintillation counter with plastic scintillator

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2014
The detection efficiencies of tritium samples by using liquid scintillation counter with hydrophilic plastic scintillator (PS) was approximately 48% when the sample of 20 μL was held between 2 PS sheets treated by plasma. The activity and count rates showed a good relationship between 400 Bq to 410 KBq mL(-1).

Liquid Scintillation Counters

American Journal of Physics, 1952
A review of the present status of liquid scintillators is given. The theory explaining the properties of the counters is discussed. Preparation of counters is described and counter characteristics such as emission spectra, response to various nuclear radiations, counting efficiencies, and emission intensities from various scintillating solutions are ...

Absolute standardization with liquid scintillation counters

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1968
The observed output from a liquid scintillation counter is compared with that predicted theoretically for a wide range of beta-ray emitters. It is demonstrated that the extrapolated integral bias curve has an intercept which is always less than the absolute activity but this intercept can be calculated for any isotope including tritium. The probability

Quality control of liquid scintillation counters

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2006
Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) is widely used at LNHB for primary standardization of radionuclides (TDCR method), for secondary calibration and also for source stability studies or radioactive purity measurements. A total of five LSC counters are used for these purposes: two locally developed 3-photodetector counters for the implementation of the ...
