LIQUID

open access: yes, 2021
My reclaimed word for the 21st century is liquid—specifically in relationship to the character of life—and as a counterpoint to the machine metaphor: the philosophical and scientific idea that the whole universe and everything in it can be understood as mechanisms, composed of the sum of fundamental components, which are hierarchically organized to ...

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Predictive and Contemporaneous Power of the Determinants of Stock Liquidity

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
This study constructs nine (five) idiosyncratic (systematic) variables to test the predictive and contemporaneous power of the determinants of stock liquidity. We select A shares from January 2003 to September 2021 to study stock liquidity in the Chinese

Liquid–liquid transition and polyamorphism [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2020
Two or more liquid states may exist even for single-component substances, which is known as liquid polymorphism, and the transition between them is called liquid–liquid transition (LLT). On the other hand, the existence of two or more amorphous states is called polyamorphism, and the transition between them is called amorphous–amorphous transition (AAT)

Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Liquid-liquid Phase Transitions in Silicon [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2020
We use computationally simple neutral pseudo-atom (`average atom') one-center density functional theory (DFT) and standard N-center DFT-Molecular Dynamics simulations to elucidate liquid-liquid phase transitions (LPTs) in supercooled liquid silicon at 1200K ,and also in silicon under warm-dense matter conditions up to 11604k (1 eV).
