Comparison of segmentors for liquid—liquid extraction flow-injection analysis

The segmentation of two immiscible solvents in a continuous liquid-liquid extraction flow system has been studied with a computer-controlled photometric detection system (resolution time approximately 3 msec). The T-shaped segmentors tested were made of fluoroplastic, glass (A4-T fitting) and a modified glass (A8-T fitting).

Effect of Injection Angle on Liquid Injection in Supersonic Flow

The aim of this experimental work was a study of the influence of injection angle on the penetration and breakup of liquid jets in a supersonic airstream. All tests were conducted in the VPI 23-cm Supersonic Wind Tunnel at A/=3.0 with T0-ambient and P0=4.35 atm.

A novel technique of heat injection into a liquid is presented. Advantages of the technique (based on direct ohmic heating) include the ease with which the apparatus can be set up and its simplicity of operation. Very small heat sources can be fabricated to closely approximate point sources.
