A flexible PDMS‐LATP polymer‐ceramic membrane creates lithium‐ion “superhighways” for rapid and selective extraction from complex brines. The amorphous PDMS matrix suppresses nonselective leakage and stabilizes the ceramic network, while LATP provides preferential Li+ conduction.

Lithium is used effectively in the treatment of acute mania. During maintenance therapy, it reduces the frequency of manic-depressive episodes. Lithium has also recently been used in the treatment of several other pathologic conditions such as schizophrenia, alcoholism, aggression, tardive dyskinesia, and Huntington’s chorea; however, its therapeutic ...

For more than a century, lithium was considered an oddity and a laboratory curiosity of very limited use. Now, however, lithium is regarded as one of the most critical of the elements. It is strategically and economically crucial in many sectors of human activity, including nuclear, medicine, energy, lubricants, metallurgy, polymers and glass sectors ...

Stabilization of microtubules by lithium ion
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976Abstract Lithium ion, in concentrations of 0.2 – 1.0 mM, promotes tubulin polymerization, provided small concentrations of Mg ++ ion are present. This effect of lithium on polymerization, at suboptimal concentration of magnesium, is additive for the two metal ions.
