Chloride Ions: Essential Agents for Achieving Spontaneous Delamination of MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work first identifies chloride ions as essential agents for spontaneous MXene delamination. Without Cl−, etched Ti3C2Tx remains multilayered; with Cl−, interlayer modification enables Li+ intercalation and osmotic swelling. The SPEED process couples HF‐assisted Al extraction, Cl−‐mediated interlayer expansion, and Li+‐driven swelling to produce ...

Development of Li10GeP2S12-type Solid Electrolytes for the Understanding of Superionic Conduction, and Their Application in All-solid-state Batteries

open access: yesElectrochemistry
The lithium superionic conductor Li10GeP2S12 (LGPS) and its crystal structure analogues can be applied as solid electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries due to their exceptionally high ionic conductivities, which exceed 10 mS cm−1 at room ...

Closed‐Loop Solid‐State Synthesis Planning for Materials Discovery With Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Leveraging literature data, we build a large‐language‐model‐driven workflow that extracts synthesis steps from 4407 papers, retrieves similar precedents, and generates candidate solid‐state synthesis recipes. The system benchmarks against ground‐truth and then operates in a closed loop with experiments to synthesize oxy‐selenide electrolyte materials ...

Leveraging Data‐Driven and Fundamental Insights for Electrolyte Innovation in Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using 640 curated electrolyte formulations, we apply data‐driven analysis to reveal how molecular features govern coulombic efficiency (CE) in lithium metal batteries. Fluorine content correlates positively with CE, while oxygen, carbon, and higher boiling points correlate negatively.

Hydrothermal synthesis of lithium-enriched beta-Li2TiO3 with an ion-sieve application: excellent lithium adsorption

open access: yes, 2016
Lithium-enriched monoclinic lithium metatitanate (beta-Li2TiO3) with a high molar ratio of Li to Ti(2.11) was synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The related lithium ion-sieve (H2TiO3), obtained by acid pickling of Li2TiO3, with a specific surface ...

Electrolyte Engineering Challenges and Opportunities for Next‐Generation Aqueous Ammonium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous ammonium‐ion batteries (AAIBs) face a hydrogen‐bond paradox: the HB network enables fast NH4+ transport but triggers water decomposition. This review dissects this dilemma, evaluates multiple electrolyte engineering strategies, and outlines four future directions for next‐generation AAIB design ABSTRACT Aqueous ammonium‐ion batteries (AAIBs ...
