Lithium Carbonate Dermatitis

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1972
To the Editor.— An adult woman weighing 56 kg was taking lithium carbonate for a manic-depressive illness on a schedule of 300 mg three times daily followed by 300 mg four times daily on alternate days. Her condition was carefully monitored and it was stable with lithium levels at 0.8 mEq/liter. She received no other medication.

Lithium Carbonate Dermatitis

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1973
To the Editor.— The letter of Dr. R. E. Posey (221:1517, 1972) described a papular, pruritic dermatitis occurring on the elbows of a woman who was receiving lithium carbonate. He questions whether anyone has seen a similar eruption in people treated with lithium carbonate.

Lithium Carbonate Toxicity

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1973
Lithium carbonate therapy, uncomplicated by other factors, can give rise to a deep coma even if the serum levels of lithium are within the desired range. A patient with manic depressive disease, having been treated with lithium carbonate for less than a year, developed progressive impairment of consciousness.

Lithium Carbonate Prophylaxis Failure

British Journal of Psychiatry, 1976
SummaryData from non-rapid-cycling bipolar (manic-depressive) patients who were receiving long-term treatment with lithium carbonate were analysed by the life table method to determine when lithium carbonate prophylaxis failures occurred. Forty-four of 96 patients failed to keep well in spite of maintenance lithium therapy.

Lithium carbonate and leukocytosis

American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1980
White blood cell (WBC) counts of 37 hospitalized adult psychiatric patients were examined for changes during treatment with lithium carbonate. Group 1 (n = 19) patients had WBC counts taken before and after lithium therapy. Group 2 (n = 16) patients had WBC counts taken only after lithium therapy.

Quenched lithium carbonate

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1996
Abstract A comparative study of sintered and melt-quenched Li2CO3 is made through XRD, electrical conductivity measurements, DSC and ESR. XRD and DSC of unusually hard melt-quenched sample show stabilization of disorder and the latter shows a structural phase transition at 401 °C.
