We analyse the geological processes of a coastal embayment in the Kattegat. Using high‐resolution seismic data and sediment cores, we describe a geological evolution from glacial to shallow marine stages with a variety of preserved facies from different depositional settings, including glacio‐lacustrine, telmatic, limnic and coastal environments.

Evidence for Past Subduction Earthquakes at a Plate Boundary with Widespread Upper Plate Faulting: Southern Hikurangi Margin, New Zealand [PDF]
At the southern Hikurangi margin, New Zealand, we use salt marsh stratigraphy, sedimentology, micropaleontology, and radiocarbon dating to document evidence of two earthquakes producing coseismic subsidence and (in one case) a tsunami over the past 1000 ...

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

A new method of shale oil facies element logging evaluation and its application in Dongying Sag [PDF]
The lithofacies of shale oil within the Dongying Sag of the Jiyang Depression are distinguished by their complex lithology, strong heterogeneity, and marked regional distribution variances.

Response and Recovery of the Comanche Carbonate Platform Surrounding Multiple Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxic Events, Northern Gulf of Mexico [PDF]
The ubiquity of carbonate platforms throughout the Cretaceous Period is recognized as a product of high eustatic sea-level and a distinct climatic optimum induced by rapid sea-floor spreading and elevated levels of atmospheric carbon-dioxide.

ABSTRACT In the Recôncavo Basin, Northeast of Brazil, mud diapirs have been reported for decades, but their role within the basin's petroleum system remains poorly constrained. Here, we combine 2D seismic interpretation, field observations, and organic geochemical analyses of rocks and oil seeps to investigate the relationship between diapirism and ...

A four stage evolution of the White Channel gravel: Implications for stratigraphy and palaeoclimates [PDF]
Although the White Channel gravel (WCG) of the Klondike district, Yukon, contains gold placers which have been exploited for over a century, few sedimentological studies have been undertaken.
