Biotic communities and feeding habits of Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone 1931) and Litopenaeus stylirostris (Stimpson 1974) in monoculture and polyculture semi-intensive ponds

open access: yesAquaculture Research, 2005
Zooplankton, macrozoobenthos and feeding habits of Litopenaeus stylirostris and L. vannamei in monoculture and polyculture semi-intensive experimental ponds were evaluated. Zooplankton was more abundant in monoculture of L. stylirostris (1002 +/- 670 organisms (org.) L(-1)) than in monoculture of L. vannamei (470 +/- 37 org.

Metal Content of the Gulf of California Blue Shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris (Stimpson)

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2007
The blue shrimp Litopenaeus stylirostris is the main target species of the Gulf of California shrimping fleet, and its heavy metal content might be of concern for human health because of the increasing contamination of the Gulf. The Cd content of shrimp caught by commercial trawlers ranged from 0.38 to 1.05 microg/g and the mean value was significantly

Sperm–egg incompatibility in inter-specific inseminations of Penaeus (Litopenaeus) occidentalis, P. (Litopenaeus) stylirostris and P. (Litopenaeus) vannamei

Aquaculture, 2010
Abstract Artificial inseminations using sperm masses were applied to intra-specific crosses of Penaeus (Litopenaeus) occidentalis , as validation of the technique. Reciprocal, inter-specific crosses of P. occidentalis and P. (Litopenaeus) stylirostris were performed; complementary, inseminations of both species were also accomplished with sperm ...

The Penaeus stylirostris densovirus capsid protein interacts with the Litopenaeus vannamei BCCIP protein

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Viral capsid proteins play an important role in the viral infection process. To identify the cellular proteins in shrimp that interact with the Penaeus stylirostris densovirus capsid protein (PstDNV-CP), we constructed a yeast two-hybrid (Y2H) cDNA library of the muscle tissue of Litopenaeus vannamei, and hybridized the bait vector pGBKT7-CP with this ...

Development of EST-SSR Markers by Data Mining in Three Species of Shrimp: Litopenaeus vannamei, Litopenaeus stylirostris, and Trachypenaeus birdy

Marine Biotechnology, 2005
We report on the data mining of publicly available Litopenaeus vannamei expressed sequence tags (ESTs) to generate simple sequence repeat (SSRs) markers and on their transferability between related Penaeid shrimp species. Repeat motifs were found in 3.8% of the evaluated ESTs at a frequency of one repeat every 7.8 kb of sequence data.

Is it possible to raise, offspring of the 25th generation of Litopenaeus vannamei (Boone) and 18th generation Litopenaeus stylirostris (Stimpson) in clear water to 40 g? [PDF]

open access: yesAquaculture Research, 2004
Peneid shrimp are commonly reared in clear-water aquaria or tanks for short-term studies of 46 weeks during controlled experiments, such as nutrition studies to estimate dietary nutrient requirements. Recently, in line with the genetic program at Centre Oceanologique du Pacifique (COP), experimental clear-water facilities were tested for the first time
