This study aims to evaluate litter size of different ages males with different parent parity in smallholder pig far- ming, used 3 males of different ages (P1, P2, P3) and 18 sows of parity 1 – 4 (I1, I2, I3 and I4) with a 3 x 4 factorial RAL experimental

Correlated Response to Selection for Litter Size Residual Variability in Rabbits’ Body Condition
A divergent selection experiment for residual variance of litter size at birth was carried out in rabbits during twelve generations. Residual variance of litter size was estimated as the within-doe variance of litter size after pre-correction for year ...

No evidence for a trade-off between reproductive investment and immunity in a rodent. [PDF]
Life history theory assumes there are trade-offs between competing functions such as reproduction and immunity. Although well studied in birds, studies of the trade-offs between reproduction and immunity in small mammals are scarce.

Development of a new grading system to assess the foster performance of lactating sows
Increasing litter size has created the need for more sophisticated, accurate, and welfare-oriented systems for assessing the foster performance of lactating sows.

Genetic parameter estimates for litter traits in Jakhrana breed of Indian goat
The litter size and litter weight are the most important indicators of growth production system in goats as they are directly related to the survival and growth of the kids.

Size dependent differences in litter consumption of isopods: preliminary results
A series of experiments were applied to test how leaf orientation within microcosms affect consumption rates (Experiment 1), and to discover intra-specific differences in leaf litter consumption (Experiment 2) of the common isopod species Porcellio ...

A review of factors influencing litter size in Irish sows
Many factors influence litter size. These include genetics, gilt management, lactation length, parity distribution, disease, stress and boar fertility. In the past 20 years, litter size in Irish sows has increased by only one pig.

Genetic analysis of litter size in mice
We performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping analysis for litter size (total number of pups born and/or number of pups born alive) in 255 backcross mice derived from C57BL/6J and RR/Sgn inbred mice. We identified one significant QTL on chromosome 7 and 4 suggestive QTLs on chromosomes 3, 5, 10 and 13.

Seventy‐five years ago, Lack proposed that there should be an optimal clutch size shared by all individuals in a population and favored by natural selection, which maximizes the number of recruited offspring.
